چکیده

In order to investigate a single vacuum bubble collapse near the free surface and the rigid boundary, the moving particle simulation (MPS) method has been used. Liquid and gas phase were defined by the moving particles and bobble shape was determined by the position of interface particle. The calculation was performed with four parameters; bubble radius, distances from free surface or rigid boundary to and viscosity of the liquid, to estimate the effect of these parameters on the bubble dynamics. The results showed that the bubble collapse time near the free surface is shortened, while the one with near the rigid boundary become prolonged. These four parameters significantly affect to the bubble interface velocity. To evaluate the accuracy of this model, the results are compared with the theoretical model and experimental results. A good agreement between present model and other results were obtained and validity of the present model to the vacuum bubble dynamics was confirmed. [doi:10.2320/matertrans.M2014348]

Numerical Simulation of Separation Bubble on Elliptic Cylinders Using Three-equation k-? Turbulence Model

Occurrence of laminar separation bubbles on solid walls of an elliptic cylinder has been simulated using a recently developed transitional model for boundary layer flows. Computational method is based on the solution of the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and the eddy-viscosity concept. Transitional model tries to simulate streamwise fluctuations, induced by freestream turbulen...

Free-Lagrange simulations of the expansion and jetting collapse of air bubbles in water

A free-Lagrange numerical method is implemented to simulate the axisymmetric jetting collapse of air bubbles in water. This is performed for both lithotripter shock-induced collapses of initially stable bubbles, and for free-running cases where the bubble initially contains an overpressure. The code is validated using two test problems (shock-induced bubble collapse using a step shock, and shoc...

Bubble dynamics in a compressible liquid in contact with a rigid boundary.

A bubble initiated near a rigid boundary may be almost in contact with the boundary because of its expansion and migration to the boundary, where a thin layer of water forms between the bubble and the boundary thereafter. This phenomenon is modelled using the weakly compressible theory coupled with the boundary integral method. The wall effects are modelled using the imaging method. The numeric...

NON-SPHERICAL COLLAPSE OF AN AIR BUBBLE SUBJECTED TO A LlTHOTRIPTER PULSE

Seattle, Washington 98105 [email protected] In order to better understand the contribution of bubble collapse to stone comminution in shockwave lithotripsy, the shockinduced and Rayleigh collapse of a spherical air bubble is investigated using numerical simulations, and the free-field collapse of a cavitation bubble is studied experimentally. In shock-induced collapse near a wall, it is...
